I’ll never forget the way I felt watching an airplane fly into the 2nd tower, how my Dad turned to me and my brothers and said, “That’s it. We’re at war”. I’ll never forget how it felt watching the people waving their towels out of the building’s windows hoping someone would come to save them from the fire. We watched in horror, hoping that they would be rescued. I will never forget the way my gut felt as I realized that those were people falling from the top stories, leaping to their death in order to avoid the inferno inside. I’ll never forget watching so many firefighters and policemen running into the building, and then watching it completely collapse on them. As the “dust settled” over the rest of the day, and the following day, and the following weeks, and the following months, there was no escaping it... America was truly wounded. It was a terrible feeling, and it was real, and you could see it in every person’s eyes. It was in the songs we sang, and in the air we breathed - at least for a while. I’ll never forget that for that short little while, we were all hurting together, we all loved each other, and we were all Americans. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ #911 #neverforget #september11 #america
